In these days, when we receive so much noise from the bad news of the day, we get thrown off track and we lose our center. We lose track of our creative impulses that gives meaning to what really matters to us in our own day to day life. What can we do to get back on track?
‘Tracks from the Field’ is an attempt to distill what a lived experience is like on that threshold between the routine happenings on the surface of our day-to-day lives and the doorway into a mythic life.
There are moments in any given day when we suddenly find ourselves immersed in a ‘kind of happening’ - moments when something ‘opens our wings’ to a mythic encounter with a living universe, and we are, for that one moment, mysteriously enchanted and awakened into a vitality living within the interior of our being.
May you, the reader, find yourselves stepping into these tracks on any given day - and in any given moment - when a fresh glimpse into the world from your own unique way of seeing things places you on a kind of track, as Joseph Campbell said, where doors open to you, and for you, in ways that didn’t happen before, and wouldn’t happen for anyone else.
These tracks are intended to give you, for that moment, an interior ‘compass heading’ that places you on track, and points you towards a ‘sudden adventure’, a moment of spontaneous aliveness that matters beyond words – then returns you to the surface of your life once again.
This is how we can live into our own hero’s journey® myth, and stay connected to a life-giving world, something larger than just our individual selves.
